32.5 to 90 interconnect ?

Posted by: garth on 23 January 2003

My preamp to power amp interconnect locks onto the Nap 90 but not to my 32.5. The 90 has an extruded flange around the din socket which the cable locks to but the 32.5 socket is flush so there is nothing for the cable lock to afix to. Is this normal? Also, is the cable directional?

Any response to this mundane query would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Garth

Garth --

Naim changed from Latch-locking DINs (like the 32.5) to collar-locking DINs (like the NAP 90) some years ago. If it's any consolation, many people advise NOT locking the collars on the DIN plugs -- apparently they sound better that way!

Cheers,

Tim

I have the same problem with 42.5 to my CDP (modern din to phono)

I undid the screw that holds the collar in place and let it drop down the lead. Once out of the way, you can push the modern plug a little further and more securly into the older black boxes. By snaic has the latched din socket which fits only barginaly better.
