URGENT: advice needed for forthcoming deal

Posted by: rocketeer on 02 December 2002

hi folks

sorry for shouting out and not browsing the forum for any already given answers, but this deal holds until around 8 o'clock this evening!

have cdx/72/hi/140 into dynaudio contour 1.3. have the occasion to swap my 8 year old 140 (unserviced) for a 4 year old 250 by adding an amount of approx. 500 GBP. is this a deal?

recently read on the forum, that the 250 does not speak the last word in bass control. does anybody have experience with 140/250 and dynaudio contour speakers? do i run into any problems driving the dyns with the 250?

thanks for feedback

Rocketeer,

though I have no experience with your speakers, I'd say financially this sounds like a good deal, bearing in mind, too, your location.

Your 140 is going to need a servicing in a couple years, which would set you back substantially, due to the cost of to / fro shipping from the continent.

Stories about 250 being 'slow' compared to 140 or 180 are a load of cr*p.

Yep you're onto a winner. Last word on bass control? Well that belongs to the NAP 500.

rocketeer,

Don't worry, the 250 is an excellent amp, and IMHO dictates bass like only few others.

Cheers,

thank you people for your feedback.

honestly, i didn't expect to hear "something else", but as long as i cannot compare the two amps directly, i felt a bit "funny" about this deal. by now, the 140 deal is done, but the 250 one busted. this does not bother me too much, because i think there are some other 250s to get for around 1k GBP. But what bothers me much is that i will be listening over the power section input of an integrated toshiba amp, till i can get a 250 (please, bless me)!

cheers

Hey Rocketeer !

You are lucky man, go for it.
Don't forget to write some impressions about 250, OK?

Enjoy

Yeah sounds like a pretty good deal. You are still (unfortunately) left with broken speakers, though. frown
