Amazon delivery times

Posted by: hungryhalibut on 24 November 2007

Once upon a time you could spend £15, use super saver delivery, and still get your CDs in two days. Now it's more like two weeks, using a 'super saver carrier'. More like a 'totally crap carrier'. And then they announce 'Amazon Prime' - pay £49 to get your stuff as quickly as you'd previously got it for nothing. It's now often quicker to order CDs from the US than the UK.

Moan over!

I placed an order on November 14th and looking at my account page earlier see I have a delivery estimate of December 4th. They won't be top of my list when ordering again. Still, it beats the delivery date of March 31st for the new verion of Zep's Song Remains the Same from Stamford Audio.....

I met both crozier and Leighton several times.

How brown is your nose, Mick?

Okay, Leighton got appointed the job by the government in 2002 though the old boys network, he's their lackey to do as ordered, work WITH the regulator and give away 30% of the buisness to cowboy mail company outfits. Leighton has no interest in RM as a public service and his only skill is siphoning millions of pounds out of RM (and all the other companies he connected with) into his own bank account. He employed master conman crozier in 2003 due to his underhand and dodgy dealing skills demonstraited in previous years. It was Crozier who negotiated the dreadfull downstream access deal which has lost RM millions in profits. Croziers latest contrick is the ongoing breeching of contracts on over 100,000 postal workers 40 year pension plans. Also, recently he squandered £40million of tax payers money on managers bonus-bribes to prevent them striking with the postal grades and very shortly after, a lucrative deal was agreed with managers over their pension rights and this kept very quiet by the tory controlled press. It was Crozier who lectured RM about dignity and respect in the workplace but he encourages managers to bully, lie and intimidate. Royal Mail has not done well under these two, figures show profits made by crafty accounting, underinvestment and cost cutting and neglect of so much, not least to the general public to whom they should be serving!
The best thing Leighton and Crozier could do for Royal Mail right now is RESIGN!!
(and may the door smack 'em on the arse on the way out : )

kind regards ~

Yes, i had a look at amazon prime and it's not a good deal.

In fact, just to change the subject, i can't help noticing the prices going up lately!
Would it be because Christmas is coming?

I'm not going to buy any more cd's or dvd's until January ; )

They bump the prices around Christmas every year.

Still - there are very good bargains still to be had from the Amazon Marketplace, especially from the big US sellers such as importcds.com. Provided you are happy to wait for a couple of weeks for them to arrive.

Cheers

I wish. I've been waiting over two months for my purchase from Amazon.com.

Was that from Amazon itself or from Marketplace?

That's very unusual IME. I have bought dozens of discs from various Amazon marketplace dealers and they are usually here within 10 days - sometimes even 5.

Are you sure what you ordered was in stock?

I ordered from Amazon.com on 24th September and was given a delivery estimate of October 25th- November 23rd so we're only just passed the due date. Since it was shipping surface from U.S. I was going to give it another couple of weeks before contacting the seller.

Same here. I usually buy from the UK site with the items being shipped from the States as the postage tends to be cheaper. Buy I ave bought off the .com Marketplace with no problems.

I would get in touch with the seller.

Amazon source goods from all overthe world so if your order has to come from the USA, it will take a bit longer. That even applies to goods made in the UK or other EU countries when these are obtained in the US.
Having said that, my latest Amazon order was supplied by a company called Digital Deluxe. It was supplied from the USA. It was ordered on the 19th November and arrived today.
I think that's pretty good.

A while back i ordered a record from Amazon. It took a fortnight to arrive. The thing here though is that i can see the Amazon warehouse from my window. What happens here is that a local has a contract to deliver items in my town and he must have had it sitting in his house or car all that time and only bothered getting round to delivering it after i had complained to Amazon about the length of time it was taking.

I'd go and bang on their door.

Ordered a dozen CDs on Friday. Got email later in day saying they had been dispatched. Delivered Saturday. Selected fist Class post, cost about three quid.

Another couple from UK shops through Amazon arrived today and the other dozen from Caiman USA were dispatched on Friday too so it seems to be working...

Ordered 4 CDs (Amz co.uk, new and not marketplace) on Sun 25th, selected super-cheapskate delivery option. Posted on Tues 27th and arrived on Thursday 29th. Maybe I got lucky, though having been bitten in the past I now only ever order anything that shows as in stock for immediate despatch.
