What is the size of the spur for the average mains plug at home?

Hi,

I had to ask this question as I'm soon to have a separate spur fitted, and my 3 powerlines will all be flush with the wall (as opposed to two of them being on a multiplug).

I believe the analogy of a water pipe can be used, as I will be going to 10mm spur and potentially have a 10mm cable for each plug.

But in a typical double mains socket, what is the thickness of the wire that connects this to the consumer unit (e.g. under the stairs)?

Many thanks,

Jon

I believe it's 2.5mm

I agree, 2.5mm is used for most domestic ring mains, spurs and radials.
