There is a bunch of new discs coming out shortly I will be thinking of purchasing. List below, some of it I have heard already (Lucinda, Mellencamp, Grffin, Rickie Lee and Norah). The Lucinda is not her normal style so maybe another listen is required.

Lucinda Williams- West- due 13th Feb
Patty Griffin- Children Running Through- due 6th Feb
John Mellencamp- Freedoms Road- due 23rd Jan
Joni Mitchell- Court and Spark- HCDC remaster with extra tracks from Rhino

Joni Mitchell- Hejira- HCDC Rhino remaster with extra tracks
Norah Jones- Not Too Late- due 30th Jan
Rickie Lee Jones- Sermon on Exposition Boulevard- due 6th Feb.
Charles Louvin- Charles Louvin- due 20th Feb

Heard a track on Andy Kershaw the other night. Apparently, it's a concept album from the point of view of Ry's cat (no kidding), but it didn't sound any the worse for that.

I'm still waiting for Sunbeam Records to release this - originally promised for 8th Jan, then it was 22nd Jan, now it's 5th Feb.

It's the re-issued and re-mastered CD of Second Hand's wonderful first album, from 1968. Reality is a mixture of hard guitar riffs, psyched-out mellotron excursions and weird lyrics. I'm told it will contain the classic Fairy Tale, in full and single edit, as a bonus track. It should also contain an informative 8 page booklet about the group.

Also rumoured is that an elpee is due out this year by Judy Dyble called Songs From The Spindle And The Whorl. This will be a limited edition vinyl pressing in an hand stitched suede outer sleeve (250 numbered copies - so my chances of getting a copy are not high, but I'll try). Inside the suede bag the LP will be housed in a spray stencilled sleeve with paste on cover.

Judy Dyble, original member of Fairport Convention, King Crimson and Trader Horne, made a come back in 2006 with two CDs that were put together with the help of Mark Swordfish and Robert Fripp. The elpee is a compilation from the CDs with different mixes. It is a cross between folk and ambient.

Blackfield - Blackfield (II); next month, pre tour
Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet; in mid April, pre tour
Steven Wilson - Cover Version V
Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun (CD/5.1 DVDA edition)
Henry Fool- henry fool; £5 from Burning Shed. This quote made me decide to order "Great progressive CD, end to end. traces of Caravan, Crimson, Soft Machine, Weather Report, of course No Man, etc"

I am really looking forward to the new Patty Griffin cd. I hope it's another acoustic set, her last two are excellent.

Pop onto the Barnes and Noble.com web site as I notice they have samples up at the moment. Sounds good. Hows the Eric Bibb and Harry Manx fixation and also how are you getting on with the list of stuff I recommended for you? Remember if you need anything give me a shout.
