Actually it is the other way round, Diccus.

Viagra was originally intended as a vasodilator and was found to have a side-effect which is now its primary use.

I bet the tabloid sub-editors were really peeved that they couldn't use the "Reckless Docs killed my baby with Viagra" headline.
