Any ( English ) Advocates / Barristers here?

because the idea of a complete career change is niggling away , and the though of Advocacy really does appeal.
Whats involved in training for "mature" entry? Are there grants / bursaries available?
Etc etc.
TIA

There are some grants available, chiefly from the Inns of Court. However, IIRC you have to be some way "down the path" before becoming eligible for these, although this might have changed since I trained. I seem to recall being told that they were now means tested to a much greater extent than before, although not sure how this would affect you. Might be an idea to look at the Inns' websites for details.
Mature entry is no problem - I know quite a few people who did this. Bear in mind however that you are looking at 3 years training to become fully qualified. This is not only expensive in itself (although you now have to be paid something in pupillage), but is no guarantee of a successful career. There is a considerable amount of luck involved however good you are - and you do need a pretty impressive academic background to even be looked at these days.
Let me know if there's anything specific you want to know
