NAME you have arc's and intro's why the **** are you going on about walnut SBL's

Just to answer the last questions, yep I'm in the process of selling the Intro's, and buying SBl's in Walnut...they have been ordered...hence the enquiry on the finish and what the veneer look like.
In regard to the Arc's .....yes I did buy a pair to replace my Intro's after hearing a second hand pair of arc's with the latest titanium tweeter and mid. BUT the second hand pair I ended up buying out without being able to view first!...on the recommendation of a supposed reputable dealer; who arranged the purchase and posted them to me with the VERBAL agreement that they too had the latest titanium tweeter and mid.
Well I was severely pissed to find he had made a mistake and no he won't take them back and no I have no proof that he said that. The version he falsely sold me as the latest drivers in fact have the titanium tweeter and FRENCH clothe Mid.
Any Arc lovers including Shahinian himself will tell you that this version was a little more heavier in the treble....not as light as the titanium mid. Great on orchestral but a little to aggressive on anything else....Hence majorally disappointed and I'm selling the arcs as well to go to the SBL. No the arc situation is not a setup problem as I've had more recent arc's on my set up and they sound fine. The arc's are good speakers but different, large centre image but not proportional a soundstage with the left. left centre, right centre and right images.
This is due to their inherent design and ask Shahinian himself self say's "move on from stereo...that left and right channel obsession and let's look more and front to rear depth", but this is at the expense of the left and right soundstaging. Bass is big and low due to the passive radiator/transmission design Awesome on percussion but can get a little hard to hear bass guitars and kick drums on really busy music....I could go on forever but basically interesting speaker but not me, especially the version I've got...which are a little agressive sounding.
My rationale for buying SBl's..I like what the Intro does but if the SBl can build on those qualities then great........

Watch those dealers and any dealings especially with Jims Music Room,Tauranga New Zealand.... if your speaking on the phone use a speaker phone and have witnesses present. Do all transactions via email so there is a copy of any transmissions.

Expensive lesson on my behalf but free advice to you all!! frown frown frown frown frown

Or why not talk nicely to Vasken and get some of the latest tweeters sent to NZ?
If he's as helpful as you say he'll probably jump at the chance to help you out.

All I'm saying is that you have options....don't have to resort to the Big Biff.

Good Luck

You like the intros, I had the credos and loved them, the SBLs piss all over the credos.

You have made the right choice.

Not that I have even seen the other ones of which you speak ;-)

Nice suggestion Redeye.....but unfortunately the titanium mid can't be retro-fitted to the clothe mid. Vasken said originally that it would involve some major cabinet butchery, which he would not recommend and it had never been done. Soundline also have never tried it and were saying something like $2000 to try!
So hence it was more economic and less risky to sell them to a loving home and play it safe with the SBL.

But thanks for caring.
