cd5 ac supply

Silly question !!
If I power a cd5 with a hicap do I need to still connect the AC supply to the cd5.
If the answer is yes, then why ?

The Hicap only powers certain digital electronics. I don't believe it powers the transport side of things.

I have this combo. You still need to power the CD5 the same way.
