Radical Speakers back on Song

I have finally got to where I have wanted to be. And I'm feeling rather smug about it. A few late nights are on the cards revisiting ancient vinyl and comparing them with the CD versions.

My main relief is getting my Apogee Centaur speakers reribboned. They are now as good as new. Apogee stopped production some years ago, but Graeme Keet in Australia makes all sorts of spare parts for them. I have stuck with a 250 to drive them, despite the clarion call that Naim kit cannot drive such speakers. Indeed, the Apogee owners Forum, (yes, it exists!) has recently had a long thread on the subject of PRaT and Naim amps. The conclusion was that Naim kit had this special quality, but sadly could not drive Apogee speakers. I took the liberty of voicing my opinion on this myth. Being panel type units they take quite some setting up, but the rewards are magnificent. Pin point imaging and super fast sound staging are the key benefits.

The rest of the set up is:- LP12/Aro/Troika/Armageddon, CDX/XPS into an 82/Supercap, all on Mana with a Grahams Hydra lead.

The only speakers that I have heard that are near the Apogees are Magnaplanar. Their MG 12s are wonderful.
