Pope dies.

Posted by: Deane F on 02 April 2005

I heard on the radio about twenty minutes ago that the Pope died about twenty minutes before the news bulletin.

I find myself strangely moved by the news and I am quite surprised at that. I am not a Roman Catholic nor a christian.

He was the Pope under which the Roman church apologised for the Inquisition. Not sure if the pogroms were apologised for though.

You didn't bother to read the links then?
My case rests.

The only bit that has got to me is interviewing a few people outside the window there. Constant reference to 'how he suffered for us.'

It seems to me, he got a job like most other people, with that job came wealth the occasional tarmac kiss and being waited on hand and foot for the rest of his life.

I am happy to be told otherwise.

Throwing in a few links does not excuse what you said.

I repeat, you are a total scumbag and it is a sad reflection on Naim that you are not kicked off this forum.

Anyone who publically wishes a priest endless suffering is a complete asshole and I think it best that you and I just agree not to speak.

It never ceases to amaze me how threads degenerate into personal attacks and name calling on this forum. The two most contentious topics… Politics and Religion are probably the biggest culprits.

Perhaps Naim should stipulate these as no go areas in their forum rules, who knows it MAY just may make everybody be a little nicer to each other.

But hey!..... silly me, I’m probably being naïve even to think about that ever happening.

You and I where recently poles apart in a conversation on the NHS.

I do not recall either of us sinking so low as to wish eternal suffering on a dead person.

I must admit I feel sad that anyone could make such a comment.

I guess I'd be one of those people that the Padded Cell has become full of, but speaking for myself I have to say that I had no problems with the arguments I found here when I joined in September. What I didn't like was the insults and the unneccesarily offensve language that accompanied them.

Mick that is true, and I have no problem with any debate which becomes passionate.
I don't like confrontation really, and will do as much as I can to avoid it.

I fully understand your point, but surely there's no need to lower the tone with the name calling, no matter how offended you've become. I thought you were better than that, and don't take that remark as me trying to be holier than thou because I'm not.
