For Frank Abela and others. What might explain diferrences in Dynaudion 1.8's pointed straight ahead vs toed-in?

When placed straight ahead, PRAT is much better, but images are slightly less precice and a bit "cooler" with less glare. Bass is leaner and MUCH faster. More mid-range presence when toed and bass much fatter/richer (slower). What might explain these differences. Speakers are 31" from the side walls, 82" apart and I am listening about 102" from the front plane of the speakers. Speakers are fairly far away from the wall behind them.
