Posted by: blackpoolgary on 27 November 2007

here i am in the u.s.a on hoilday in santa fe new mexico and i wanted to go to a naim dealer here and see whats new or different and guess what !! there is no dealer here ??
considering this state is half the size of england i am suprised the nearist one is about 10 hour drive (not good if you want a demo )
so why is that when in england there is one about one hour drive away.

...but much less population, for sure. New England, on the other hand, might be more appropriate for those expectations!

Historically, there has typically been only one Linn or Naim dealer between Santa Fe and Albuquerque–the state is sparsely populated.

You're not kidding Dave, I just spent a long weekend down there and covered the State from Top to bottom, great place to visit but mostly desert and drunk drivers, judging by the number of 'Report DUI Drivers' they have on the highway.

No Naim dealerships, unfortunately, but a good place to get a deal on a monster truck.

New Mexico - regardless of the lack of Naim dealers is the best state in the US, best scenery, climate, excellent food - if you know where to look.

Close second is Arizona.

well, derek, you've just alienated 99.99% of us, as nobody lives in n.m. perhaps that's what's so nice about it. if you had said that bakersfield, calif., the texas panhandle, or buffalo, n.y., was the nicest area, no one would take offense, they would simply assume you were insane / stupid.

in any case, is it very beautiful. just bring your system with ...

most of the people I have met in NM have come from other parts of the US/world.

I also have met quite a few people from the pueblos and had good conversations with them.

Given a choice and opportunity I would opt to live in Santa Fe with Tucson a close second - however I do not have the required amount of cash to invest in a US business to employ US citizens so I am restricted to visiting only for a short period.

derek - i have good friends near tuscon, who moved there from the big city some years back w/ their daughter, and have some land and a home in the desert. daughter is now a senior at the univ. of arizona. she and the desert are lovely. another old friend is in the process of moving from l.a. to albequerque, state capital of new mexico, with his french wife. there certainly is an attraction. i often camp in the anza borrego desert, one of the most beautiful places in calif. very remote as well. best, fid.

Blackpoolgary -
what are you doing in NM apart from searching out the ultimate Naim dealer.

Have you not spent hours if not days in Canyon Road rummaging through the galleries, hiking thru the Rio Grande gorge, making a pilgrimage to DH Lawrence's grave. etc etc

yes i have looked at the art galleries on canyon road, the shops in the plaza ,bike rideing through the gorges and from the top of the ski resort to canyon road and all the other things that santa fe and nm has to offer
