I'm considering two floor-standing speakers: ProAc D15 and Spendor S8. I want to put them in my bedroom, which is 12' x 14'. Can anyone tell me if the room is too small for the speakers? Any thought about the boomy sound?

I think they would be way too large. I don't like bass with any overhang mind you. If you like your bass really fat then I'm sure you'll achieve it. Try the smaller floorstanders from the ranges or even the compacts. I think you'll be surprised. Choose the sound you like at the dealer then ask them to let you try the size of speaker at home. Ask fo their idea. also be careful to to buy a speaker too big for your amp to control. Neither speaker has a vicious reputation but they're both classy so will need more than a 112/150/CD5 to get em to wake up...
