Deleting tracks

Does anybody know if it's possible to delete selected tracks from ripped CDs using the Desktop Client?

Not sure what you mean by this? and what is a desktop client in this context by the way?

docmark,
You cannot delete individual tracks from the HDX at this time, only full albums

If you're that bothered...
One sneaky way around this is to make a playlist, suitably named, which consists of all the tracks on the album. Then delete those tracks that you don't want...
In other words, you can make use of the fact that you CAN delete individual tracks from a playlist, using the 'edit' function.
Go figure...

that is bizarro. Any reasons why?
Even if files are stored on a NAS?

You cannot rip to a NAS at this time. Yes I can delete any tracks on my NAS by going into the computer files.
The HDX does not give you that type of access at this point. Why you can delete albums, but not individual tracks in unknown to me. Whether by design or oversite.
Still some tweaks to be done.

Once again... if I was fortunate enough to own an HDX, I wouldn't even consider using it for ripping.... which seems to be the point of the box in the first place.
I would though use it for its DAC and Analog Outputs stages.... No doubt they are up to snuff.
But ripping without FLAC, no ripping to external drives, cant delete a song etc....... no way.
To all who are scared of learning how to rip yourselves, keep in mind that it is easier than figuring out the loading on your superline...
Analog is as foreign to me, but i bet i would EASILY get the ins and outs if I took an hour to learn about it.
Forgoing doing your own rips because you think it is so difficult, is similar to me eschewing vinyl because CDs make it so much easier.

PC,
If your happy doing your own rips then fine. While I can and have done an EAC set-up, I actually prefer for Naim to set it all up for me.
I would have preferred the ripping process without the storage disc on the HDX or possibly a separate box for ripping/storage, but it works for me and apparently many others.
If it's not your cup of tea then you'll have other options.

I would like Naim to "set it all up for me" as well, if they could.
Maybe in some future update, patch or tweak they will figure out how to do exactly that.
How long must you wait until you can rip to a NAS?
Can you transfer the rips you've already done to a NAS once you have the ability?
How do you currently get the rips into your above mentioned NAS?
I must really dislike tea.

Munch,
Yes I am drooling over it.... I wish I had just discovered Naim. If I didnt already have a 102/NAPSC/180...
Tuner
CDP
DAC
AMP
PRE
Streamer!
I have already turned a few friends on to it.
An nDAC will do me just fine when it comes.

shared folders. Music from the HDX will be able to be moved to a NAS to make room for more on the device or permanently if you choose.

Gary,
I meant, how are you getting the rips you are doing now onto the NAS?? I assume you are using the HDX for ripping, if you cannot move them to your NAS, how do you get them there?

Currently I can't. This will be enabled with the next software release.

PC, I answered your questions:
Rips are done to the HDD of the HDX. Until the new software release these cannot be accessed to move them to a NAS, nor can you rip to a NAS at this point in time.

Direct quote....
Did you mean you are guessing you could do it, if you used a NAS?
This was the source of my confusion. I thought you were using a NAS now as your quote intimates.
You said you delete files directly on the NAS. I assumed you were using a NAS since you said you are.
Hence my question about how they are getting onto said NAS.
This leads into the next question..... if you are using a NAS, how are you getting the files there?

PC, all of my CDs are ripped and stored on the HDX HDD.
I have downloaded music on the NAS.

aha... all is clear now.
Just out of curiosity... where have you bought your files... I assume some are 24/96?
Finding anything decent?
