will a supercap power an 82 plus a prefix at same time? if so, will this be better than a hi-cap for the 82 and a hi-cap for the prefix?
any advice appreciated!

I don`t think so......check with naim....the 52 has two "input no 2"(a and b).....one is powered, so the prefix can be powed from the scap, via the 52. I don`t believe (from memory) that he 82 has such a facility, though i may be wrong here.

My only feeling is that if you are using other sources, than a record player, a supercapped 82 is an awsome beast and well worth aiming for...worth sacrificing (temporarily!) the record player for, by say, using a flatcap (or s/h hicap.....reatively cheap, & easily resaleable at virtually no loss)
I would bet that prefix/flatcap with 82/scap would be preferable to prefix/hicap & 82/hicap, though I have not done the comparison
