naim dac + ipod connected on usb port

Posted by: lthe on 22 February 2010

I listen to lossless music stored on an ipod connected to a naim dac.
Works great but have some questions:
1/ I noticed that I can use forward on the ipod, but the rewind button does not work. Why?
2/ I did not succeed in connecting a usb key (did not read music). Do you have examples of supported usb keys?
Thanks

Sorry if this is a dumb question...

If I plug my iPhone into the DAC using the standard Apple-supplied cable, how do I send music from the iTunes library on my Mac to the DAC using UPnP?

Presume I'm missing a piece of the puzzle - some app for the iPhone maybe.....?

Yes, the app is called PlugPlayer. $5. satisfactory. To use MAC as server, must download Eyeconnect or other to allow UPnP. The trial download expires but leaves you with the audio portion of the software still working, which is all you are using here. So it is free.

Hopefully Naim's up coming software for the Qute/Uniti will be a plug/player software that can use the touch as a controller and or a renderer in the UPnP universe.

Thanks Connon. Got PlugPlayer and Eyeconnect installed. Eyeconnect sees my iPhone but PlugPlayer doesn't see my iMac (where the iTunes library resides). When I enter the name of my iMac as displayed in the Eyeconnect system preferences pane, the URL is not recognised. I'm new to all this (and to think I'm considering a HDX-SD - must need my head examining ;->Winker. Any ideas ?

Same here too:

Huge diff between Ipod and USB-stick...

The sounds via USB-stick is not very far from my CD5XS into the DAC...sometimes I think it is even "better"...

3. Some older USB keys don't work
4. I think it supports FAT file system only
5. Does not work with the remote.

JYOW, my nDAC plays wav files from folders -- no problem. It also grabs files form sub-folders. I didn't dig deeper.
