DSD

Is DSD the work of the devil or is it better than analog/pcm regardless of whether the playback is SACD, CD, DVD Dolby/DTS or vinyl. It seems that every new classical recording I am interested in these days is a DSD even though I decided long ago SACD is a useless euphonic playback format, after the initial excitement.

Peter Moncrieff has definite, strong feelings on the subject here, here, and here. I may have a tin ear, but really don't hear the problem with SACD. In fact, I just bought that disc a couple of weeks ago after reading in HiFi+ that it is not to be missed. My only other recording of the Saint-Saens Organ Symphony is an old Vox LP with the Hague Symphony Orchestra that I picked up in the bargain bin back in the early '70s, so I was overdue for a new copy. I like the performance quite well.
