ELP

In revisiting the albums of my youth, I've recently acquired CDs of Tarkus and Pictures At An Exhibition.

The Pictures CD has a bonus track of studio recordings of some of the pieces, which are remarkable and put the live recordings on the album to shame. Frustratingly, the booklet says nothing about where, when or why these extra bits were recorded.

Can anyone shed any light?

Graham

PS I've also got a couple of early Focus albums. Great stuff!

Check out All Music Guide, there seems to be several versions/editions of the album. When you know which one check out ELP website(s) someone is bound to know all there is to know.

I think Extended Long Player recorded studio versions of Pictures in quadraphonic for "The Return of the Manticore" and "In the Hot Seat". It was something they always meant to do, but took ages to get around to. However, they never did re-record Are You Ready Eddy (We've only got ham or cheese).

I think ELP should reform...along with The 801 and UK. Sadly, we'll probably see an Asia tour before that.

Welcome Back My Friends To Thread That Nevers Ends

And Focus could reform too - imagine a double header ELP & Focus. I'm not sure it would sound as crisp as those old elpees though.

Carl Palmer has formed a band called surprising enough, The Carl Palmer Band. They do some great power trio versions of the ELP faves, only with guitar, bass and drums rather than keys.

Greg Lake is touring, see GregLake.com for details.

Keith has just postponed a tour due to him having to go into hospital for tests. The all clear has been given, so rescheduled tour dates to come.

I just saw a CD that was put out by Keith covering some live stuff that he did with the Nice not too long ago. Has anyone heard this?

That's actually remarkably unhelpful and not at all funny. Why not reserve your ravings to your sad and wretched True Truths thread?
