UnitiServe ripping problem
Posted by: Ultramanzero on 22 August 2010
Some discs was ejected by UnitiServe after reading the disc information and refused to rip but if you disconnect the internet connection it ripped ok, why is that? Any user has same experience?

Re-boot machine, see if that fixes it.

Tried but still the same, does it related to IFPI code to protect copyright in some CDs?

copy cd then rip copy

thanks rich46, just tried tonight but still the same. Both original and copy CDs can play OK with the Userve but just cannot be ripped. I really think there is some kind of protection code inside just don't know why it can be ripped without internet connection.

There's nothing that springs to mind in the way of software functionality that would prevent a disc being ripped when the unit is connected to teh internet but would allow it when not connected - especially if both the original and copy exhibit the same behaviour.
If your dealer has a UnitiServe / HDX / NS0x then it would be useful to try the same disc (or the copy) in his machine to see if it will rip there.
If it behaves the same there then it would probably be an idea for us to take a look at the disc itself (or a copy if that is behaving the same) as there's something odd going on there.
Cheers

Not sure if this will help but I did notice that if you've already ripped a disc, in order to rip again (for whatever reason), you have to delete it then delete if from the deleted file. Once you do that, you should be able to rip the CD again.
