Trophy Award Chablis for a fiver!

Posted by: Dave J on 20 September 2010

If anyone has read this month's edition of Decanter, they may have spotted that one of the 2010 International Trophy Winners is Château de Ligny, a pretty darned stonking Chablis available from Tesco - of all places - for the bargain price of £8.99.

I went to see if I could find some this afternoon and found that they are currently reduced to £5.00 until tomorrow. To make things even more attractive Tesco give you a further 5% off if you buy 6 or more bottles. They must be insane. I bought as much as I could carry and will return tomorrow to mop up whatever's left.

If you live within 100 miles of a branch of Tesco then I implore you to get down there as fast as your little leggies will carry you and stock up. This is an offer not to be missed.

If its too good to be true....it usually is!

At my tesco's this is now down to £4.49 so I went to pick up a case (+1) yesterday

Unfortunately the trophy winner was the 2008 - the Tesco offer is on the 2009 (unless you are really lucky and found a few 08's lying about)

Apparently the 09 is not a patch on the 08 - but hey its still a steal if its half way decent.

I will sample the +1 in a few days and if its ok will leave the rest until next summer.

Thanks for the tip!

The 08 is £51 and a few extra pennies for a case of 6 from Tesco Direct + you get clubcard points.
