Sense memory

About two years ago, I hung up my trumpet, because it had become a bother to maintain my skills, much less move ahead. I thought I would put all my musical efforts into hearing music.
A price had been paid. Playing scales and arpeggios every day, majors and minors, has a way of keeping the ear sharp. Your whole body reacts to the sound of it, as it makes it all. In the absence of that ritual, the sensation grows dim.
Tonight I picked my horn up again for 30 or so minutes. It felt good. There's going to be more of that.
It is already improving my appetite for music.
