DVD rental.

Just a quick message for those that don't like buying films or don't have a decent DVD rental outlet nearby.
For the last few weeks I've been using www.dvdsontap.com. I pay £10 per month, and for that I choose from a long list of DVD titles including the latest releases. They then send out one of the films on my list (recommended list of at least five films), I watch it when it's convenient, send it back in a prepaid envelope, and when they receive it they send the next film. So I watch about 4 or 5 films per month without any worries about returning them on time, for the price of 3 rentals at my local youth club/rental shop.
By the way, watched Vertigo and North by Northwest recently. Will those films ever lose their attraction?

Brian,
I thought DVDs had no place in your home since you were too busy buying more records?

What happened? wink

...with NAIMGAIM - NetFlix is great. We maintain a prioritized list on their site of what we want to see and they mail the next one on the list that they have available. And they have *way* more titles than our local BlockBuster. We have seen lots of Marx Bros and Charlie Chaplain, for instance, that our local shop doesn't carry.

And they are FAST - we return a DVD on Monday and have the new one by Wedensday or Thursday big grin big grin big grin

Netflix sounds about the same as dvdsontap service-wise. MUCH more relaxing than blockbusters, and no tempting Haagen Daas!

I've recently had a free trial with http://www.screenselect.co.uk, followed by a paid month at £14.99.

You can have three discs at a time, and their turnaround time has been very good - except for one case where the time between posting one disc and receiving the next was about 5 working days - for which the Post Office may be to blame...

I thought I'd see if I could find a cheaper service, hence my discovery of this thread. dvdsontap.com has now become http://www.lovefilm.com/, and it still has the £9.99 option - plus a few others allowing you to have more discs - so I might try it after my paid month with screenselect is up.

Tony, this is great. Thanks for the tip. I have my first 20 queued up.

They have masses of music DVDs - far more than even the big HMV branches let alone the local rentals.
