US gone to Summertime?

Posted by: Derek Wright on 11 March 2007

The forum clock is one hour in advance of UK local time, I guess that the US has surged forward one hour this weekend, and the forum software did not understand that the EU will not change to Summer time for a couple of weeks.

Another plus for a great forum service provider.

We have... And at my office the Microsoft Outlook scheduling program that runs our lives (sort of) is a mess. I'm getting meetings scheduled for August 15, 4505.
I'm gracefully declining them, can't commit to making it then...
All the Y2K crap that we and other went through... We never saw a single bug. Perhaps it was due to all the preventative measures, but changing daylight savings time has brought our scheduling to its knees!

It undoubtedly was. Worth all the investment, in other words.

Probably, but all the dire predictions... Who's car wouldn't start on 1/1/00? Anyone's furnace not warm their home that morning? Microwave cease functioning? TV switch from your show to Teletubbies?
No?
OK, which of these devices got new software as a result of all the Y2K work?
None of them.
Now, financial institutions, manufacturing plants, many other businesses needed to take preventative measures for all that and they must have done it well (and at great expense!). I know we spent a truckload of money on this. And we had no problems.
Until daylight savings time changes!
I had a professor of electrical engineering talk about this issue back in the late '70s and early '80s... Should have taken that lesson to heart and formed a Y2K company!
