What's your tipple?

As I sit here slowly getting sloshed on a (good value) 15% red from Puglia (oaky with blackberries and a hint of chocolate), I wonder what other members' preferred beverage may be;
Grape, grain, hop or other?

So it won't please you to hear that Gales has been bought out by Fullers, who are currently promoting HSB as a 'guest ale' in their pubs. I don't know whether Fullers intend to keep the brewery in Sussex or move all production to London.

I had no idea. I guess it's the way of the world these days but sometimes I just wish things could stay the way they were. I suppose if it has to be happen then Fullers would be one of the best choices. I forgot to mention ESB & London Pride in my original post ... both of which you can get at a price here.
Thanks for the info Graham ... we'll be back in the UK in July so I'll see for myself. BTW the Gales brewery is in Horndean (the H of HSB), Hampshire.

Frederik,
Do you suffer hangovers after a few vodkas?
Dear Steve,
The night I had a half a half litre of Vodka, I woke up next morining aware that I was still inebreated, but no other side effect. I did have the sense to eat a vegatable bowl of cornflakes with a pint of milk over it before bed, so I guess that stopped the dehydration thing, but there was no headache. I guess I actually did not have a very serious dose of it, but I do know that more than two reasonable measures of Scotch and I am prone to being virtually wiped out next day. I only enjoy a very small measure of it taken slowly over a good conversation.
The best was that at work when we changed shift at 2 pm Artur (another Pole) straight away said that he knew what I had been doing!
I looked at him and he just said, "Be careful, and that it is best done in company!" Possibly very wise words! I aked him how he could tell, and apparently one's eyes give it away to the experienced observer.
Next time I go to Norway, I shall take one bottle of Scotch for my Aunt and one of Vodka for me! We tend to stay up till the early hours just talking, and she reckons that I am the only other night owl in the familly apart from her. On holiday we both seemd to about before six, so there should have been a sleep deficit, but I still found myself very much rested after a fortnight of it! One litre of nice single malt lasted us a fortnight last time.
Hopefully this August or September will see me there again...
All the best from Fredrik

I consume a large glass of malt with a 25% dash of water most evenings and I still rise at 5.45am most mornings feeling good.
Bloody vodka just kills me.

One glass of any standard booze shouldn't do you much harm. It's when you start doing it by the bottle that the spirit gets the upper hand...

If you can get your hands on one of these, go get it. Fantastic bloody drink. Pity they stopped making them 8 or so years ago. Mine were more than 10 years old and they tasted devine.
Bottoms up!

Well, I had a pint or two of HSB in The Basketmakers only last week, and although it is now Fullers, they haven't made a bad job of it.
As it's summer, I'll mainly be onto Becks or San Miguel, but otherwise it's beer, Red Wine & Whisky. In the depths of winter I like Southern Comfort, and at any time I can drink Jack Daniels.
On a hot day if I'm out to dinner somewhere, I like a large G&T or Pimms.
I can't bear fussy or girlie drinks - cocktails, Baileys etc.
Jasons - Be careful with Diet drinks - that artificial sweetener is carsonogenic. I had a friend who just drank diet Coke all day every day. She died of cancer aged 42.
