Lots of people look but no one replies - I wonder why?

Morrissey does seem to have a bad effect on some people, not sure why. I remember seeing the Smith's for the first time on The Tube and I thought they were excellent.

Maybe some people blame him for The Smiths breakup and certainly he has had his ups and downs but I like his attitude. The latest one is pretty good, I might just put it on if the thunderstorm that is lurking moves on.

Heard virtually nothing by Morrissey or The Smiths - anything you feel is worth listening to.

ROFT

The previous album "You Are The Quarry" is much better than the current album "Rinleader of The Tormentors". The Smiths (1st Album) and Meat is Murder are probably the best Smiths albums IMHO.

The Greatest Hits Vol I & 2 would give you a taste of the Smiths, and I also like Hatful Of Hollow.

Morrissey's solo stuff is a bit more hit and miss. "You Are The Quarry" and maybe "Your Arsenal".

Thanks Nic, Steve.

Your Arsenal is a fine CD. I like how it is an LP length CD, in other words it has enough strong material and little in the way of filler. It keeps things interesting and unlike some 60+ minutes CDs you don't start to mentally tune out after a while.

Your Arsenal is the Morrisey CD to start with. You could buy more if you like what you hear.

I'd recommend Mozza's first solo LP, Viva Hate. The music is quite interesting (unlike some of the later rockabilly stuff) and it has HRH Vini Reilly on guitar.

Hatful of hollow is a good starting point.

Vauxhall and I was pretty good too as a solo album. Southpaw Grammar = absolute sh!te

The Smiths I don't believe made even a duff track let alone album.

The latest Morrisey album does absolutely nothing for me. I listened through 5 times or so and still couldn't sing along. Quarry on the other hand is still on the frequent listen pile after a couple of years for me.

The Queen Is Dead is the best Smiths album no questions. Brilliant.

ROTF,

Try Louder than Bombs - it's a superb Smiths compilation if you don't find anything on that. They are not for you.

Steve.
