Anybody wish to join me in comment. At first listen a) its sounds dreadful – its SACD but CD compatible, well at least mine is b) not sure about the material.

I had a demo copy a few days ago. See my comments under "the good, the bad and the ugly". First (and last) impressions were that it was a dogs breakfast. Either the poor boy is confusing complexity with musicality or his idea tank is bone-dry and he is desperately seeking inspiration and originality through the use of shifting time signatures and key centres. I could go on but it's a sunny day and songs from the just borrowed and returned new Elbow pre-release are wafting gently through my brain. Accentuate the positive and all that.

It's stunning. Along with Dido's new elpee, it's the album of the year, without doubt. It has scarely left my CD player since I rushed out and bought it on the day of release.

As an artist, Sting is ever-evolving. He is the master, the oracle. We mere mortals are simply not worthy.

Kevin,

I couldn't agree more. Sting is Dog. Sorry, God.

It seems very easy and all too often that Sting is given a bad time on this forum. I think we should rise above the usual bating and at least give it a fair trial before we slag it off - after all, it may be a great album.
If an artist puts time and dedication into their music, we sho.....
Nah...bollocks...you're right..he's an arrogant twat.

Todays' 'The Month' Cd with The Sumday Times has extracts from the new Sting album.

Without any interference from me, The Wife put it straight into the bin, making no comment!

Must be a psychic link or something?

Bugger! Missed that as well!

AND I missed the EXCLUSIVE Sting concert on Radio 2 last Saturday night!

Double bugger!!!

Someone please give me more advance warnings of Sting broadcasts on radio TV and appearances at hi-fi shows.

I did catch him on the BBC World Service the other night though. Sting's great - he can make love for 8 hours non-stop, you know. And he can talk about himself for 3,567 hours without stopping too.

I had the utter misfortune to catch him performing a new bit of 'music' on Top of the Pops last week. Needles to say, it was terrible. No really.
