Hi Red

Listening to CO as I read your post! Scary.

There's a pretty good review of Motion here.

Red

The Barbra Steisand thread looks a lot more popular than this one. I've never heard of them so I think I'll mosey over there and check that out. Must be a new house DJ or something wink

After reading this thread, I ordered Every Day and Motion. Both are very enjoyable! Thanks for the recommendations, guys.

Garyi, you could buy this arriviste nonsense or get The Art Ensemble of Chicago "Les Stances a Sophie" instead. Available on vinyl and CD.

but Nick,

let me tell you I've heard this particular album on radio and just because these silly fellows have been sampling the AEC, don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!!

They didn't sample it afaik but used Fontella because of the AEC, Theme de YoYo which is much Djed. Fontella was married to Lester Bowie (I think) of AEC at the time.
You can hear a clip but unfortunately not YoYo here

I don't think there are other clips. The compilation is good. The rest of les stances is more squeaky.

Tommy Makem is from Keady, just down the road, from my birthplace. They have a nice pub.

I think I must have caught the "hump" off Redeye because now I've got it! Must be some sort of condition acquired from the forum. Maybe related to GNOG (officially known as the Grumpy Naim Owners Group), which pops it's head up every now and then. Usually post Naim purchase when widescreen TV's go on sale.

BTW Cin Orch weazled it's way in front of Gomez tonight big grin

hmmm,

I've listened to Every Day 3 times now, and I have to admit to being more than a little bit disappointed after all the good reviews.

Barry,

Glad I'm not the only one - maybe it will grow on me. The Jimi Tenor looks interesting - maybe one to get once I've listened to all the other CDs I've bought recently.

Nick,

Please join us when you give me the 2 Coltrane CDs back saying that you still don't get it.

Barry,

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll definitely investigate further when my bank balance recovers. I also haven't given up on Cinematic Orchestra. From my first few listenings it just sounded OK, which was a bit of a disappointment after all the glowing reviews. There's quite a range of styles and sounds on the songs - to my ears it just doesn't quite hang together. Maybe I'll change my mind on a few more listens.
