It arrived this morning. Just finished listening to it.

I think it's excellent, but doesn't fit my definition of "rocker" music (see my description in your "Cracker" thread)! This belongs in the chill-out thread. Now Rammstein.....

Saw them live just over a week ago. Very good indeed. I have them on my list of stuff to investigate - so this helped a lot.

They were warming up for Lamb on the Friday night of a weekend Festival (Lamb are very good as well - check them out) and Lamb nicked CO's flash keyboard - and later their keyboard player as well! Obviously quite good mates.

I'll check out some Cinematic Orchestra stuff soon.

Still burnin' from the Dave Byrne set on the Saturday.

Finally got some time to do some ordering stuff - I found and ordered three double LPs; Everday, Motion and Remixes 1998-2000. All I could find - are there any more?

As you can probably tell - they were very good live!

Not that i'm about to admit that AEC could possibly be listenable...but which bits are sampled on CO? You never know....

They didn't sample it afaik but used Fontella because of the AEC, Theme de YoYo which is much Djed. Fontella was married to Lester Bowie (I think) of AEC at the time.

I played (several times) the sample of Theme De Yoyo from the "Universal Sounds Of America" compilation - was that the right one?

I have to admit I rather liked it (shame it was so short). Nary a squeak nor squonk. Any ideas where else I can hear more of the same?

I don't think there are other clips. The compilation is good. The rest of les stances is more squeaky.

Brief Summary Of The Plot For Gary:

Redeye thinks "Everyday" by The Cinematic Orchestra is fab.

Redeye gets the hump that only one sad Kiwi has responded.

Moved by altruistic feelings, the rest of the world gives it a listen and agrees with Redeye that this is indeed fab stuff and should be bought forthwith.

There's a brief diversion as Redeye thinks that this is actually the latest Black Sabbath album. It's not.

John C (having foresworn The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem) makes a claim that, because the disc features two vocals by Fontella Bass (famous jazz/blues singer), that we would all be better off buying discs by The Art Ensemble of Chicago.

I make traditional rude comment about John's taste in music, but am subsequently in serious danger of having to eat a considerable quantity of humble pie.

Naim issue statement denying emphatically that Kate from Big Brother is going to join the thread. Shame.

Conclusion: Gary buys it (but not in advance of Coma Divine, mind). Gary loves it. Gary thanks Redeye.

Tommy Makem is from Keady, just down the road, from my birthplace. They have a nice pub.
