One Hell Of A Storm This Evening
Posted by: DAVOhorn on 27 February 2008
Dear All,
we have just experienced another SYDNEY weird storm this evening.
I have been in many storms and Typhoons but this one was weird.
It is evening about 7 pm and dusk is approaching. The light changes from a light blue to a darker blue then ::::::
The sky goes a strange dusky pink the wind picks up and then the RAIN. You could barely see 20 ft from my window. The sky becomes very bright dusky pink and this weird almost continuous lightening starts and it looks like an old warmish pimk fluorescent tube starting up.
The wind picks up even more and the rain is extremely heavy and almost horizontal, so bad i dash round my flat to check for water ingress from the windows. Luckily no problems.
It is now 7.55 and the storm has passed and the dusk has returned to normal and i can hear the thunder rumbling in the background and can hear the police and ambulances rampaging round going to various storm incidents.
Yesterday parts of Sydney were flooded in the ONE MONTH rain in 1 hour.
Boy what a couple of months we have had.
Worst and coldest February for 50 years!!!!!!
And i came here for the warmth and sunshine.
At least the reservoirs are now over 60% capacity and water restrictions may be eased.
Wow what an evening.
regards David
