Crime Fiction and Ian Rankin

Been in the queue at the local library for three months waiting to read his latest Rebus.
Slow bloody readers in OZ.
PS Hope he gets royalties to make up for lost revenue.

So, they don't have bookshops in Oz then? Big Grin

Nime, book shops abound, both new and second hand.
Charity begins at home.

Hang on a mo! You mean to suggest that buying a new book is an act of charity? My charity extends to half a dozen well-stuffed bookcases. Perhaps I should get a tax break for my contributions to the arts? Smile

If Fleshmarket Close is the latest Rebus rest assured it's worth the wait. Just finished it yesterday (NZ readers obviously faster than Australian, but we knew that Winker). Amazing writer Rankin, the standard never drops.

Enjoy!

Got my library copy today; then why am I on this forum?
Nime I had so many books in the house I ended up giving them to the local op shops.
Will admit Mr. Rankin deserves better. I think I will ask my better half to buy me some of those collected editions for Christmas.
Redeye, thats the one , and yep we are all a bit slow here in the north, its the laidback lifestyle. Can't even get through the sunday paper!!!

Is this the chap who used to write for HiFi Review?

Rankin (and Rebus) are the only crime fiction I've ever consistently read. Anyone suggest another series/author of similar quality?

Bruce,Try Clive Egleton, the Peter Ashton series.
Not a cop series, more spy thrillers in the authentic le Carre style.
