I'm confused too. There is a CD3.5 in your profile.

What's the story?

I'm sure most people would agree that a secondhand Naim cd 3.5 would be a good start, they go for about £500 to £650 give or take a bit + it can be upgraded with a flatcap or Hi-cap power supply.

As for speakers, that's a bit more of a personal thing. If you want to stick with standmounts the Mark 2 Linn Kan's are popular (Not much depth in the bass but fast and fun) Epos es 11's are also popular but can be a bit boomy in the bass.

I've read somewhere that the newer epos m12's have a more accurate bass but can't confirm this

hi emil.... actually i used to have a cd 3.5 but then due to a financial difficulties, i had to let it go. i was going without a cd player for about 2 years+ and when i finally financially stable... i just settled for an arcam alpha 6. i got the player cheap though.. around GBP150.00 by that time second hand cd 3.5 are scarce & cd 5 is rather expensive.

And now you have money for a CD5 or a s/h CDX.
