Excellent guitarist and great sounding band, but limited to impersonating his heroes. Think of it as a tribute gig and you'll enjoy it. Quite strange in that if he is doing a Hendrix-sounding song for instance, he will adopt the voice to go with the guitar playing. Very odd. Definitely a product of his dad's record collection.
Maybe one day when he has built his confidence he might find his own direction and give us something original. He certainly has the guitar skills, he just needs the ideas.
Originality aside, live he should be full-on, unrelenting, ear-poundingly brilliant. Close your eyes and have a tour of the best of the 70's, and watch out for those Rory tracks!

That's pretty much my take too - a skillful player making just average music. Don't get me wrong, I'd go see him live, because I like watching guys shred it up, but as far as sitting and listening to his cds... well, I had one, and I sold it.
If he'd take a few chances, he could possibly be something special.

Hi Howard
I have seen Joe twice, great both times.
He is one of those blues players who can sing as well as play brilliantly.
We are all different, so have an open mind , and hopefully enjoy - I am seeing him at Sutton
Regards

Didn't mean to sound discouraging about the prospect of a Joe Bonamassa live show. I would expect it to be excellent.

This thread made me dig out A New Day Yesterday and I've really enjoyed it over the past few days, so today I've brought Blues Deluxe into the office to give another blast. Maybe it'll be as good on 2nd listening, as I admit to shelving it after one listen.
