XLD folders

Posted by: Paul Hannan on 16 November 2009

Hi

When ripping using XLD, the output files are currently all grouped together in a single directory. For example...

01 Snow Patrol - You're All I Have [all ly L/m SP].flac
01 Thievery Corporation - A Warning (Dub).flac
02 - Acoustic Revenge.flac

Is there a way to automatically group these into folders??

Thanks

Paul

If you are using iTunes, you can select from XLD to add files to your iTunes library upon completion. Assuming you are letting iTunes to organize your files, your files will be organize the iTunes way.

Of course letting iTunes organize your files is a double edged sword. I have had files missing mysteriously which I could not explain.

I have tried changing the default on this preference and it won't allow me. Though I don't think i need to.

After ripping 50+cds XLD is creating folders for the artists and their respective albums within said folder.

In addition, like i-Tunes, XLD has created "compilations" and "various" folders where it is storing folders for comp cds.

So far so good but I had no idea how SLOW XLD rips. I suppose this is necessary to get the rip right. At this rate I should be done by the time Naim's second version DAC is released. Razz

Btw, I'm ripping to AIFF.

Please tell me how you are getting compilations to rip to folders, mine are ripping to artist folders, so one CD can feasibly create 20 folders with a single song in each. Not cool.

I'm pretty sure my compilation CDs are ripping to a compilations folder.

example:

Music\Compilations\24HourPartyPeople\1-Anarchy..US.aiff
..............................................2-24HourParty..Le.aiff
..............................................3- etc...

XLD appears to be dumping the compilations in one folder by album title.

I'm typing this from memory but will verify when I return home.

I burned a few cds at breakfast this morning and noted XLD created a new folder titled "Various" for another compilation. Currently there are approx 10 folders (1 per album title) in the compilations folder and one in the new various folder.
