Angela Hewitt - World Bach Tour

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I thought that admirers of Hewitt's Bach might like to know that she's touring Bach's Well Tempered Clavier around the world for the next year. Dates may be found on the Hyperion website (can't link directly to the tour's web page) here:

I've just booked for Manchester next June, the day before my birthday. Smile

After a year playing such a "magnum opus" she should set a new recording down! What a task!

Surely she is not playing all of it at each concert. That would be a marathon for any artist...

I have just listened to the samples on the Hyperion page. If I were hunting for a piano rendition on records I would get it, and no doubt in concert it will make for spell binding music making!

I also sampled the Mendelsohnn "Ave Maria." Wonderful - a must buy disc, in my view...

Book 1 is on 8th June, Book II on the 15th. The wait between the two books varies according to the city.

Speaking of musical marathons, I have fond memories of attending a performance of Bach's complete organ works at Winchester Cathedral a few years ago (must have been the Bach centennial). I attended for the first couple of hours in the evening, and finished work early the next day to catch the last hour. I don't think the poor organist got much sleep in between!
