Calling 'Energy'

My 2 previous attempts to get info on your Linn having failed, I thought I'd go direct.

Very impressed by the pics of the LP12/RB1000, but wondered what decided you in favour of this combo over the more obvious LP12/Ekos or LP12/Aro/Geddon.

Unless you're Paul Messenger incognito, of course.

Chris,

I think that's not an RB 1000 but an RB 300 stripped of paint. See diverse threads on Pink Fish about this mod.

Hi Chris,

Have not been around for a few days.

Turntable spec's LP-12 Maple plinth, Cirkus, Lingo II, The arm is a Rega RB-300 that has been modded by me, the paint has been removed and re-wired with VDH MSS7 tone arm cable plus frisky fruit LP-12 mounting kit. Cartridge is Dynavector DV17DII mkII, Phono stage Dynavector P-75. The turntable has had every part replaced in the last 18 months only the outer plater & top plate date back to 1986 when the LP-12 was made. I have in the past had both the Ekos & Aro at home, I just found the Ekos to be a little to metronome sounding and the Aro lacking in the bottom end. What I wanted was the music of the Aro with the timing of the Ekos; I found this with the mod's made to the Rega. I've been thinking of getting a Rega RB-1000 to try early in the New Year, also looking forward to tring a friends Norton Air power supply as well.

Here is a close up pic of the arm.

Looks very good - let us know what you think of the RB1000. I too found the Ekos too mechanical, which is why I opted for the Aro, but liked the new P9 when I heard it - mainly, I think attributable to the arm.

Very interested also in your thoughts on the new Lingo as opposed to the Armageddon.
