Reporting back as promised

I would like to say before I start a big thankyou to everyone that responded to my thread I found the advice useful. The kit was left on for the best part of 3 days I dumped the surge protector and on Richard Dane's recommendation swapped my interconnect back to the cheaper Chord Chyrsalis RCA-DIN. The difference was amazing, the mid-range is now more focused the system has a lot more grip, the only minor niggle now is the top end is a little brighter but that just happens to be a characteristic of the Roksan CD player. So perhaps I may just have to audition the CD 5 sooner rather than later, unless you guys think I should listen to some other players around the £1200 mark just to make a further comparison. Anyway thanks once again to everyone that responded

What is the Roksan sitting on? Spiked MDF can 'tame' it a bit if needed.

I'm not sure about the Kandy CD player having never heard one.
I also have a Roksan CD Player (the older DP-1/DA-1/DS-4 combo ... the one with the pop up lid ... which has been fully Attessed and serviced).
I am still using Tripod racks and found a slab of 20mm slate in the back garden when I moved in. Curious I cut it to size and it improved the bottom end a lot. I know that extra mass is often bad news (as per the Quadraspire bog seat variety) but it helped me.
Not sure if this helps but ...
