Deutsche Grammophon

Carl Craig and Moritz von Oswald have released an interesting album on Deutsche Grammophon – a sort of remix of Ravel’s Bolero, Ravel’s Rapsodie Espagnola and Mussorgsky’s Bilder einer Ausstellung. The really interesting thing about this though is that there is no mention of this on the DG website. Makes me wonder if DG are releasing other interesting stuff but not telling anyone about it

The record is incredibly good in pure early '90 electronic/ambient.
Who remember TV Victor?

Dear JCS,

... and Mussorgsky’s Bilder einer Ausstellung.

You are an Anglo-Saxon, so please remember that it is really "Pictures at an Exhibition," and the Germanic title i is translated for the Germanic speaking world and not the correct title. Niether Musoorgski, nor Ravel titled it in German, but rather their own tongues.

A bit like Apollo by Stravinski, which posseurs call Apolon Musagette or some such! Stravinski called it Apollo ...

Big assumption there George. I don't consider myself to be Anglo-Saxon but I do take your point. I took the titles from a review. I didn't know what they are normally called

Bolero I could do without but never tire of Pictures, it is just so grand, whether original piano or Ravel's orchestrated version.

I must agree, my favorite is the orchestrated version with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and his conductor Fritz Reiner ( RCA - Living Stereo ) from the late fifties.

Best wishes
