Revolver turntable any info?

Posted by: Bruce Woodhouse on 25 July 2001

Lurking in the bottom of my wardrobe is a Revolver Rebel turntable bought when I was student some years ago. I cannot find any information about these, or the company etc so I presume they have ceased trading.

Anyone any experince of this item?

Since I have almost no vinyl now is it of use, if only for spares, to anyone? Free to a good home.

I remember the Rebel, it was a half decent deck. If it is working or near working condition I would certainly like it - is it boxed and able to be mailed? I would certainly pay postage. It would be used in my studio system into my Nait 1 just to play along to for fun!

Cheers,

Tony.

It is years since I used or even opened the box but I suspect everything including cartridge is present and correct and knowing my obsessional behaviour the original packing (and probably receipt) are all around too!

If you like to mail me direct at home-see my profile- then I'm pleased someone will get use from it.

Bruce,

Thanks very much, I will email you.

Bruce, Tony,
The only problem the Rebel has is that the pully comes loose off the motor. First it sounds like pitch instability, and will eventually stop playing. The cure is a spot of super glue on the pully, an easy fix. Buy the glue now as I'm sure you'll need it soon.

... and don't forget to use the 'Pig' clamp that it came with it, if Bruce still has it.

I wonder if our 'Mr. Pig' has tried sitting with the centre turntable nub up his behind to see if the music improves?

Yours, wonderingly

I have been looking for a TT for the the father in law (I bought him a starter system for his 60th). I have managed to land a Garrard AP76 which is hardly 'hi-fi' but I am really surprised how quiet it is for a direct drive deck. It had this really awful stylus timer on it which counted the revolutions on the platter to tell you how much life was left. The best thing about it was the annoying ticking sound it made!

Sorry folks, only one to give away

Do you think I might win the HiFi giveaway comp as a result of this generosity?
