PS3 sound through AV2

Posted by: Trev on 08 December 2010

Hi everyone

Has anybody successfully managed to route the sound from a PS3 through an AV2?

I have the PS3 connected to the AV2 with an optical cable into the OPT2 input. All settings for speakers etc have been made.

The PS3 sound settings have been set to "on", but I am doing something wrong as I am not getting any sound. Test sounds from the AV2 are silent.

Any ideas please as it would be niice to play some music DVD's through this.

Thanks

Trevor

I no longer own a PS3, so can't go and check for you, but I don't recall any problems with optical output from it into the AV2. In fact I used it as my bluray player until getting my Naim.

Suggestions :
1. Try using the other optical input on the AV2
2. Try another optical lead, just in case your one is faulty.

p.s. : I assume that all when you mention "test sounds" you are referring to test sounds from the PS3? If your AV2 is silent when using the TST function in AV2 speaker setup, then something is wrong with the AV2 itself.

check that in the ps3 you have dual sound output checked, ie to both the optical and the hdmi. also down mix to compatible sound format. if hdmi is connected and everything is in auto it may default to the tv sound settings.
