Annoyances with Naim

Posted by: Ancipital on 02 January 2003

I have to say I'm rather annoyed with Naim.

I've been looking for A/V components for a while now and it has been suggested that I look at the Naim AV2/Nap175 even though it was out of my price range.

I've had demonstrations for Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo and Naim so far, wanted to demo the Pioneer VSX-A10 but no-one has one that I've found in my searchings.

The Naim AV2 beats everything I've heard hands down by far (IMHO), consequently I'm now going to have to spend a damn sight more money that I was expecting.

Thanks guys!

One saving grace, at least I can use my Nait2 as part of the set-up, will be crying when I part with the money but at least not hysterically.

Going for the final demo on Saturday to decide what speakers are going to go with it all. Shop will be using a Nait5 as part of the config as that's the closest thing they have to the 2.

TTFN,

Steve

Steve,

The cost of Naim gear is often more than you wish to spend on audio components however its well worth it in the long run. You wont be diss-apointed.

As for the speaker's it all depends on your budget?

Yeah, I was a bit shocked when I bought my gear but it sounded a lot better than the other I was comparing it to. As a friend says on his house payment, "it's only the first check that really bothers you". However, I'm not inclined to get an AV system as it would be too crowded in my living room. I just hooked up the Digi box into my last AUX on my 92R and it is so wonderful to have good stereo sound to a movie.

Yes, it’s really annoying that one can not match his Naim to the other part of the world. On the other side, if you follow the theory of System Approach – and there has not been a better theory yet – then you have to stick to this or that line of equipment and why not to choose Naim?
