Super-Cap with...

I am curious, has anyone tried a super-cap with a cd3.5?
I currently have a CD3.5+hi-cap and 92+hi-cap and was wondering whether, as part of a long-term upgrade strategy, I would get a significant improvement by swapping both hi-caps for a super-cap as this would (in theory) improve both source and pre-amp as I believe I could run both pieces of kit from the one power supply. Anyone tried this?

Can someone please elaborate on the theory that it's okay to power both the 52 and SNAXO from a single S'cap at the same time?
I currently run an active system with 52/SC/SNAXO/Hicap, 2x250, SBLs. The SNAXO is powered from a hicap, but if I could run it from the Super that would free the hicap to power my Prefix. At the moment the latter is powered directly from the 52 input, but I've heard that the sound improves dramatically through a hi/SC.

I don't believe that CDX/XPS is "better" than CDS1; but I compared CD3.5/Supercap against CDS1: CD3.5 with Flatcap to CD3.5 with Supercap is a much greater step then CD3.5 with Supercap to CDS1!

As for the Supercap powering the CD3.5 *and* the nac92: I had no problems with earth issues etc., the Supercap transformed the whole system to a totally different level.

Can run a Prefix and 32/72/etc off of one supercap without using the Burndy.

I'm in the US and don't see 2nd-hand Supercaps very often. If they are scarce 2nd-hand where you are, you have the chance to grab them at a fair price, the the purchase won't significantly delay other purchases, then maybe go for it!

Oh dear.

I know i should listen to these things first but I have to wait till I get back to england on 11 Dec to really decide which one of these machines to invest in.

I hear conflicting reports about which is better.

I can imagine CDS1 > CDX
But CDS1 and CDX/XPS ?? ...more difficult I should think.

there is also the issue of age with the CDS1 although Naim equipment last such a long time.

Hi Folks,

Earlier this year, as the proud owner of a CDX I spent a lot of time on this comparison. Despite my attempts to bias the test in favour of the CDX by including HDCD encoded material it was a straightforward knockout victory to the CDS1 every single time, regardless of source material. Sure, putting the XPS on the CDX made it sound better and bigger, but it never even got close to the CDS1. THe CDS1 is just better in every way-more prat, more natural, more emotional...
