Hi All.
I am going to buy a Target rack for my system. I can get either a 5 shelf Beta rack (I think that is what they are called) - the ones with the rounded poles, or one of the "newest" Target racks - I think they are called the Target 2000. Does anyone know anything by way of comparison between these two racks?
I can get the Target 2000 one for a bit less money due to a sale at my dealer. I do not like the look of it as much but it is heavier and supposedly a better sounding rack.
Wondering about your experience and knowledge in this specific Target area.
My system is LP12/Ittock II/Elys (which I have a wall shelf for), CD3, 72/hicap/250, Intros.
Thanks in advance.

If I remember correctly, Chris at NANA recommended the Beta variety but I'm not sure.

PS Chris Koster made several comments on Target during his long postings on Mana/Fraim and other supports. Worth reading IMO. Search for "Target" and author, "Chris Koster".

The fully welded one should be the better of the two. The snap together jobbies aren't stiff enough.
PS since you're in Washington, you might want to consider Neuance shelves.
A Neuanced Target or Standesign can give the "big 3" a run for their money, and is better value for money at any rate.

I've been using a Target Beta 5 for years now, it's a good rack, but benefits from replacing the wooden shelves with MDF.
Neuance are suppose to be very good, but I've no experience.
Target had gone bust, so supply is very limited (unless they've been resurrected?).

Thanks Jay, I do come from the Krell school of photography, that is, bleached and overexposed.
IIRC, someone (Sanus?) bought the Target designs and are manufacturing them under the Target name. I can't for the life of me remember where I read that.

Hi Mike.
That would be May Audio/Justice Audio, the former US/Canadian Target distributor.
I believe that the lineup will start out with a limited selection of styles and configurations.
The new Target supports will officially debut at CES this week.
I'm supplying Neuance to May Audio(Roksan/Target/Apollo),
Toffco(Exposure/Dynavector/Neat Acoustics/Kudos),
and Sakura Systems(47Laboratory/Konus "Essence").
I'll report back on how the new Targets look in terms of build, materials & finish if anyone's interested.
Best,
Ken
