16 or 24 bit setting when using nDAC?

Hi All

AIFF CD rips > MacBook Pro (itunes) > Optical > nDAC

In the Audio Midi settings, do I use 16 or 24 bit setting?

24bit should be used if you wish to use the Mac Book volume control? Otherwise it doesn't matter?

BTW, this nDAC is a.w.e.s.o.m.e!

Set at 24 bit. Sounded better (and no i wasnt using the volume control) than 16bit when i used to use the optical connection.

PS - and yes its only padding the remaining 7 bits with zeros...
