I heard a while back that the video of the Pulse concert would be released on DVD. Anyone know if this is going to happen?

that it would happen. If you can't wait, look around for it in CD Video (I've got a copy, works fine on the DVD player).

so does the presence of video really make up for what amounts to a yawn of a live album?
I've had Pulse long enough to have replaced the batty in the CD pack, and it still fails to quicken mine. : (

Is it only vinyl Pulses that have 'One of these days'?

Are you sure you are listening to this on a Naim system??!!
Great album. Can't wait to see this available on DVD.
Got to say that there is still a big lack of music material available on DVD. This is a excellent format for music. OK you don't get the sound quality of CD or Lp but the video aspects certainly make up for it.

Actually, I agree with Rico (but I had to get the vid anyways). Both Pulse and Live Wall sound like the studio albums with the addition of reverb and a piped-in audience. I turn to Ummagumma for live fun.
'course, there are the various boots out there...

I bought Pulse because of the simple Fucking awsome time I had at the event. agread it dosn't really recapture the event, but still what a night.
I had 15 joints rolled in a tin in me sock and in we went.
snigger.
Apparently regarding the DVD, get this. There was some sort of dispute with the ownership of the original video footage, then the whole lot got lost.
at least this is what I heard on the web, so it must be true.

Best thing to do would be to smoke some of them, you won't feel the rest then.

Saw this advertised as 2DVD set, by one of the advertizers at the back of Classic Rock this month (great Rush article in there for those interested). The price was £29.99. Now I don't know if it was a misprint and they meant the CD, but seems expensive for the CD so maybe the DVD is available (or maybe a dodgy import?).
I may give them a ring and inquire.

Agree that the CD release is not brilliant, but the video is good entertainment with the addition of the visuals- and it reminds me of seeing the concert twice. Wanted it on DVD because of the better quality pics and sound.

At the end of "Run Like Hell" there is a most marvellous explosion that on my system you do not so much hear as feel as the sound pressure wave shakes your body, furniture and house (blows out windows etc )<g>
How was it created?

As far as I can remember (!) at the end of run like hell they let a tonne of fire works off, also they had what looked like cannons which I gues provided the low end.
By far the highlight of the concert was gilmours solo on comfortably numb, when an 80 foot glitter ball decended and 6 mega strength white lights were pointed at it bathing everyone in light, wonderfull. Then it opened up to reveal more lights kind of like a tulip.

Ah the geek here tried it, ruined said case and it didn't work.
It has a normall AA battery if you fancy your luck, as it goes getting the bloody thing out must have damaged the little circuit board so probably not worth the effort.
