Hi folks,
Knowing that it is very hard to find some good s/h Naim gear in Holland,I considered myself pretty lucky today.
Next week,Tuesday I'll be the new,and hopefully proud, owner of a 1 year old CDX!
There's this HiFi-store about 20 minutes from my town who's selling Naim, for about a year now.
Today a guy came to the shop to trade his CDX for a CDS-II. well, just about 30 minutes ago I got a phonecall from this dealer.
I got a fair price for my CD3.5 + f/c.
They also give me 2 years garantee on the CDX, even though it's s/h.
So, I can hardly wait till tuesday...
(yes, this also means there'll be no more $$$ left for a decent TT. So, no vinyl replay for me in the near future.)
Are there any other Naim-buddies out there who did the same upgrade recently ??
Greetings,
Alco.

Hi Alco,
I upgraded from 3.5/Flat to CDX about 1.5 years ago. I’ve been through loads of upgrades in the past two years, and I’d say it was one of the most significant ones (in my system, anyway), along with going from Credos to SBLs.
I picked up the CDX on a Saturday afternoon and spent hours listening to discs – the amount of extra information I was getting was amazing (not long before that I still believed CD players couldn’t be *that* different). In fact, I was exhausted after the first listening session, but that’s not to say the presentation as such is fatiguing – it was only from hearing all my favourite music in an entirely new guise.

The way to go but I think the price is high for 2nd hand gear -- around £600 would seem more appropriate but I don't know how attractive a 3.5 f/c is nowadays in the light of the Series 5 kit.
See if you can target a 2nd hand XPS (ex-dem?) -- I did the up-grade but soon added an XPS. It does transform it!
Alone the CDX is relaxed, informative and pleasant i.e. relaxed but informative. You will appreciate just how rough at the edges a 3.5 f/c is, in comparison.
When I first bought Naim kit (the 3.5 f/c -- 72/140)I asked my dealer how much better it could get. The answer is that it certainly does but so does the required budget.
Do keep going -- there is more to come yet!!!
Enjoy

Upgrades coming thick and fast at the moment, however this is the first source upgrade for a year so I am looking forward to living with the CDX!
I have a bad feeling that an XPS will be arriving on the heels of the CDX. My bank manager will be furious.

Enjoy your CDX buddy. I've had mine for about 10 weeks now and it's going great guns!
Mine improved significantly about 4 weeks in but you won't have to worry about that (not that that's anything to worry about, it was a great surprise!)
