What is the origin behind the name Naim?

What is the origin behind the name Naim? I have heard it used as a name by males from the Middle-East, and in Arabic it means "Contented".. Are there any connections to the arabic name?

Not sure if this is the right forum, but the question just popped up.

Obviously, I may be wrong, but I was led to believe it was Jewish for "Excellence" or similar.

I think Julian Vereker was of Jewish descent and that's why he chose Naim.

Lieberung,

Mike Hanson wrote in march 2003 about this question:
Believe it or not, it's because Julian couldn't think of a "name", so he just settled on "Naim".

(Julian = Julian Charles Prendergast Vereker, MBE was an England self taught designer of hi-fi audio equipment, and founder of Naim)
