Piccies from Japan and Akihabara (hi-fi and others)

Hi all,

Last Thursday I returned from a fantastic business trip to Tokyo. It wasn't all work, as you will see.

First up is my return visit to the top floor of Sato Musem (opposite the exit of Akihabara's JR line station). This place features an Alladin's Cave of valve goodies - not my kind of thing but they do look pretty (see piccie of "Spark" amps).

Here's some real strange stuff - budget Japanese valve gear. The box on the left hand side is a valve CD player - going for £200.

More home grown valves from Spark. A "British Racing Green" painted amp on the bottom.

You get some strange characters at Yogi Park. Many of them play music (usually badly).

The rest of them are usually women dressed like this (see piccie). As you gather, I spent a bit of time admiring the scenery big grin

So, that concludes my pictorial. I went to a few other places, including Ginza (to go window shoppping as its cheaper elsewhere).

There were problems in trying to track down Naim equipment - only finding a discounted CD3.5 and Nait 3R on the top floor of Laox.

Mnaged to find a specialist store called Sound 101 in Akihabara and happened to join a demo that was just starting. Here they had a tonne of mega-expensive Accuphase kit and some massive JBL studio monitors. The whole demo sounded crap (they were mainly showing off SACD), for example, the body of piano notes appeared before the attack (!!). Also the demo room was stuffed full of big loudspeakers - hardly helping the demo along.

Anyway, I hope to post some other piccies of my own system in March when I get back to my parent's place up North.
