I wonder what the effects will be. Certainly the world is better off without him, but I doubt it will lend much to the ending of the whole damn mess. I wish it would all end. All this death and hatred. Why do people forget that we are all the same deep down. I hope he finds peace.

Because we aren't. Most people don't share al-Zarqawi's desire to kill, in order to impress the Invisible Man in the Sky.

Do you think he came out of the womb like that, or did events make him what he was? He was born innocent and something corrupted him.

I think we are all the same deep down. We all want to be happy and none of us wants to suffer. This is universal. The only difference is how we set about achieving these aims and much of this is determined by habit - we tend to think/speak/act the way we have thought/spoken/acted previously. Rejoicing in the death of anyone is not a good habit imo.
I note a US general is trying to convince his troops that being nice to Iraqis will mean the troops will make less enemies and therefore they will be safer whereas not being nice to Iraqis will make enemies and therefore troops will be in greater danger. What a genius! Yeah right. Well I wish him well in this belated initiative but alot of work will have to be done and a complete re-think of how US troops are trained for peace keeping duties.
Erik (too thick to have been a general)

The process is two stage: first, a video is played to the intended victim, depicting the last beheading. This is known as "killing the mind." The victim is told that in 24 hours, the same will happen to him. The overall process is known as "killing the mind, then killing the body."
He will get his just desserts*. We all do. Eventually.
*his recent death is but but a deposit on the full payment due.

I walked in from work this evening and announced to my girlfriend "I hear Al Zarqawi is dead, then."
She replied "Was he a boxer....?"
...And she's the one with the Masters degree!

I believe his career started when he was presented as the link between Saddam and Al Qaeda.
He was a small thug but was thoroughly hyped in order to give the resistance/insurgency/opponent an ugly face. For example a lot of actions got attributed to him with which he had nothing to do.
end of this hype.

Actually I know two generals very well, a couple not so well and 3 or 4 only slightly and all of them are ferociously intelligent, just not very wise. One of them is formidably bright on an international scale and is probably the second most intelligent person I have ever met. He looks and speaks uncannily like David Gilmore and I can never watch David Gilmore in action without seeing him in uniform. Only their mothers could tell them apart.

Erik,
Do you mean David Gilmour? An interesting observation if you do I think.
God bless America and it's F16's!

Deeply distasteful. The idea that God takes sides is deeply deluded. The recruitment of this mythical being to justify wrong doing is the oldest and most common crime in the history or mankind imo.

Hmmmmm, i think there's a fine line between 'casualties of war' and assasination. Perhaps I'm being naive and this has always been the case....
Ho hum.
