Ebay! not so bad

Nice to know that sometimes there are bargains out there on Ebay!
NAP 135's
If you're dumb enough to post your ad in the wrong category (musical instruments) no one will know about your sale.
Good deal for the buyer though.

Not much feedback on the seller. I wonder if this is a scam.
Arthur, Didn't you pay attention to feedback at one time? :-)

Hi Phil.
I avoided bidding on this as the seller could not provide me any bona fide references. He said that they were in unopened boxes. When he gave me the serial numbers though they were 3 years old! It just didn't add up.

I emailed the guy too and was ready to bite if I could get a pair of 135's for around $1000 US... He did seem like a bit of a flake, and I was uncomfortable sending him a big check, but what a deal that would have been. And not bad at $2k or so either... But it was fishy.

Mark:
I'm with you on this. I've bought a good bit of Naim kit over the years. About 1/2 of it was purchased, used, from other Forum members. I haven't been burned yet. I've also found them quite helpful after the fact.
It helps to be able to look back on prior posts to see how long they've been posting and what kind of temperment they have. Even the surly and argumentative ones have turned up honest.
If a seller owns Naim kit and doesn't know about the Forum I tend to be suspicious.
My 2 cents

P.S. Your 135's are warming up nicely to the SP100's

My transaction with Mark Russell was completely enjoyable on all fronts. I can't imagine a better e-bay transaction.
Only after I had transacted with him did I find he was on this board!
Mark, my "new" 250 is really working well with my 'Briks! I'll take your "cast-offs" any time!

I bought my CD3 on Ebay just over a year ago and am v. pleased with it (still haven't saved for matching amps in that time though!) but how about this for a near ebay disaster story......
After paying by cheque which cleared later that week I headed 20 miles up the road to pick up the CD player. The address I was sent was number 3 on the road. After searching the street several times and unable to find any house number in single figures I headed down to the nearby police station to ask directions. Surely they'd know where it was I thought. I asked where number 3 on this street was to which the PC on the desk replied, "we're number 3 mate".
As you can imagine my heart sank as it immediately dawned that this was a set up, and quite a clever one at that. In a panic I began reporting the internet fraud to which I had been subject only for another officer to appear half way through and inform me that they were actually number 5 and 3 was a small house behind the hedge next to the station. I picked up the CD player 45 mins later than planned much to the amusement of the nice bloke in number 3.
To top it off I had two mates with me at the time who still haven't stopped taking the piss to this day.
For some reason things like this seem to happen to me on a regular basis. Guess I'm just lucky.

I think you will find that there are quite a lot of naim owners who do not know about the naim forum.. in fact i know a naim owner who im not sure has ever used the the internet.
