I split most time between the local classical station (which has internet streaming) and a university station.

wcpe http://www.wcpe.org/
and
wknc http://wknc.org/

some time another college station that plays jazz and blues. http://www.shawu.edu/wsha/home/
it also has internet streaming.

couldn't limit it to just one. Smile

Radio Paradise.

Rock, folk, world - very eclectic play list.

First heard about it in a Malcolm Steward column a few months back. Very highly praised, and IMHO, well deserved.

hi stu the 01 is tuned to 94.9 and the o5 tuned smooth fm tel.

#2 for what ghook says above.
Radio Paradise is an example of what can be achieved with a little thought and some passion for music.
The station has cost me a small firtune in new music, and I would give it full support.
It's never boring, and best of all, totally free of clutter and adds of any sort.
Oh for a day without hearing 'go compare'

Sorry, not a Mac guy, but 192k MP3 works well on my MS Vista laptop. Drop outs are pretty rare.

Did you install the Octoshape plug-in?

I have loaded the Octoshape plug in.
I click on the Octoshape 192K mp3 link, iMac asks to use Octoshape(I have now set it not to ask)and then nothing.

I've now spotted the Octoshape icon ,but can't get it working all it does is load a play list, opens iTunes but no music dtream.

Back to real Player stream.

For Octoshape to start in Vista, the ActiveX pop-up needs to be enabled. Then bleeping Vista asks "Are you sure?" a bunch of times before finally allowing WMP to start playing RP.

So my guess is that you are hitting some security wall, but don't know enough about Mac OS to be very helpful.

Good luck.

Try the 128kbps AAC stream for Radio Paradise. They reckon it is the best sounding.

Raido Cafe from Budapest (http://www.radiocafe.hu/) and Radio Nova from Paris (http://www.novaplanet.com/radionova). I don't speak Hungarian and I don't speak French, but they both play the best mix of eclectic music I've heard on the airwaves.

i am a fan of the BBC's 6music. I have an affection for Stuart Maconies Freke Zone.

It might be the best sound but not if it keeps re-buffering 3 times in about 2 tunes Frown , so back to 129K Real Player.

OK the broadband took it in it's head to play up just as I selected 128 k ACC, now it seems to be behaving it's self, a very good it is too, playing through iTunes..

Definitely Radio 6, best Dutch radiochannelfor you daily shot of soul, jazz, blues and worldmusic.

Overwhelmingly Radio 3 with a weekly (never-to-be-missed until the b*stards take it away) dose of The Freak Zone (of which I am officially a Child) which is truly up there with Peel.
Posted on: 12 April 2010 by Kevin-W
Radio 4.

Followed by BBC6 Music, Radio 3, BBC7 and Radio 2 (mostly for the documentaries). Agree about Maconie's Freak Zone (and now, Freakier Zone). Best radio show since Peel.

Commercial radio here sucks.
